The ACE 250 from Garrett Metal Detectors is comparable in performance to much more expensive high end detectors. It is one of the most popular all around metal detectors because anyone can use it without needing extensive training or experience, yet its accuracy and performance can only be beat by much more expensive machines. For coin and relic hunting metal detectors at an entry level price, the Ace 250 has strongly loyal users who consider it their "Ace" machine.

The Ace 250 allows you to target specific materials so that the detector will not sound for iron or steel if you select Jewelry settings for example. It also offers different sounds for different materials so it is easy to determine what you'll find and how deep to dig. This makes it easy to do a fast sweep of an area and then pinpont the material, size and depth of your finds. Whether you are fishing for coins, jewelry or copper relics, this great, lightweight detector has what you need and is an excellent value at this nice price. The headphones let you block out ambient noise to get clear sound signals from the detector - very helpful for areas where traffic, wind or activities create difficult listening conditions.

The novice treasure hunter especially needs a reliable metal detector to start out with, but the more people you meet and discuss metal detection equipment with, the more people you will hear say good things about the sensitivity and features of the Ace 250. It is usually the first and often the last metal detector treasure hunters ever buy.

Notes
  • Always be sure that you have done your research. Before you enter an area to start hunting for minerals like gold or silver, check first with the Bureau of Land Management to be sure that there is no existing Mineral Rights claim on the land you want to check out. The Bureau of Land Management or BLM is the government agency responsible for recording claims.
  • You can file a Mineral Rights Claim on undedicated Federal lands which will give you the right to mine and prospect the land although you do not own it, you may camp there and all minerals found are yours.
  • Before you start panning on public lands, check to see that no Mineral Rights Claims exist or you could find yourself in an awful lot of trouble.
